A recent plea to the OPC Disaster Response registrants for volunteers brought an abundance of inquiries to our volunteer coordinator, Jane Robinson. Thank you! Mike Kelly now has many additional hands for the rest of the month of March, but more are needed for April and May!
Our faithful site coordinators, Mike and Sylvia Kelly, who arrived in Neon in late February have been busy meeting with those in the Neon community to find out more about each person’s specific need and is working to pair volunteers with the work.
Lots to do:
In addition to building "Sheds", Mike is working on:
- NROPC's window replacement
- Building a ramp for an elderly person
- Replacing a garage door and fixing a fence
- Repairing a sunken porch needing to put back on its foundation
- Painting
One individual with tin roof expertise is scheduled to arrive in Neon soon. Master plumber, Doug Baxter, Lord willing, is coming at the end of the month to help with various plumbing issues, but we are in desperate need of an electrician.
We need more volunteers!
April and May have lots of availability for volunteer help. Have you made your spring break plans yet? How about a volunteer trip to Neon, Kentucky? Mike is looking for help with building "Sheds of Hope". Each shed requires four or five strong backs to build, but the work goes quickly—assembling in about three hours! To some of the flood victims, this is the only way for them to secure any belongings that survived the high waters. Right now, Mike knows of seven families who are currently in need of a shed.

Praise the Lord!
With the generous donations given toward the Kentucky Flood Fund, the old, dilapidated roof on Neon Reformed OPC's building has been replaced! Work is continuing to replace the awning and the exterior brick.
